New York Day Four

We started today off with a load of laundry, having our pick of three laundromats within a two block radius. Finding one that could actually give us change, we got out 40 quarters to use the machines and Jordan settled in while Seth went out hunting for breakfast.

Bellies full and feeling clean we headed onto the subway to head downtown. A few trains later we arrived at Ground Zero.

Entrance to the new One World Trade Center.

Dodging the raindrops we were looking out over the memorial.

One of the memorial fountains.

With the rain starting to get heavier, we decided it was time to head inside. Taking what was possibly the longest escalator down into One World, there were plenty of shops to stick our nose into. What was interesting is like New Zealand, once you have seen the shops in one mall, odds are you’ve seen them all.

Looking through the entranceway.

With our stomachs grumbling, we had our eyes on a restaurant in Chinatown. We decided to walk despite the slight drizzle and wandered through a park and spotted a few interesting buildings.

Not pictured is the squirrel Jordan is staring at.

Such ornate buildings.

The restaurant in question is Buddha Bodai, a vegetarian/vegan yum cha restaurant. It was excellent, definitely will be going back before we leave, possibly twice.

Vege bun about to be consumed.

We wandered back through Chinatown, checking out interesting shops and trying to hold our breath in certain places as the heavily humid air hit the fresh fish in the stalls.

Opting for a lazy afternoon we dozed the afternoon away, picking up a vegan chicken parm sandwich and a vegan lobster roll for dinner.
