France Day One
Bonjour! We landed in Paris at lunchtime (we think), timezones all out of wack after a 1am flight from New York to landing at 12:30pm. Navigating what was the easiest airport customs ever, thank god because I don’t know what french we would have managed with little sleep, we meandered out to try find our first of three trains.
Managing to pick up our train tickets, we made it into Paris proper.
Outside St Lazare station.
We had an hour or so to kill before our train left to Caen, so we took the time to wander a block around the station. Ingulfed in the smell of cigarette smell, we spotted extremely well dressed people, fancy stone houses, but more importantly a bakery. It was time for breakfast/lunch/whattimeofdayisit?
Action shot.
After some excellent floundering in french, we walked away with a croissant and a chocolate cake or flan slice (it was in french, all I know was that I butchered it). Definitely worth the embaressment, at least we know how to order a croissant now.
It was soon time to catch the train, so hopping on we watched interesting views while we dozed in our seats. Two hours later, we rocked on up to Grandad’s apartment, eventually managing to open the door and collapsed on to the bed.
Veiw from the apartment.
We decided to pick up some inredients for pasta as we hadn’t had any cooking facilities for a few weeks. We popped into the the local Carrefour, and discovered cheap cheese. Seth seriously considered buying all he could see.
Our walk to the supermarche.
Making dinner, we managed to stay awake to eat it before crashing. Here’s to a more awake day tomorrow!
