Chicago Day One
After 27 hours travelling, we have made it to Chicago!
Flying into Chicago at night.
Starting our day off with coffee as a cureall for jetlag, we popped down to an Italian bakery on a recommendation from our AirBnB Host. Surprisingly decent after all we had heard about coffee in America. Though I will admit, the small size here is the larger size in New Zealand.
We popped past a supermarket called Pete’s Fresh Market, which was full of interesting things but mainly had an amazing selection of fruit. Currently we have a rockmelon heavier than a bowling ball, a giant container of strawberries, and a mango. All for breakfast tomorrow.
Chicago street with train bridge.
We kept going heading into the city. Coming across the Opera House.

As well as the Theatre, looking longingly at the Hamilton tickets.
Chicago Theatre
First slice of pizza.
Heading into the French Market, we found lunch and many interesting stalls to poke our noses in. Seth kindly taking an action shot of the first bite, it was a thousand degrees but excellent. Very present cheese flavour with a slightly sweeter crust.
Trump Tower
When we started heading for the Magnificent Mile we happened across this building!
Our idea for this day was to wander round, not do anything too tiring, and get home early for a relaxed evening, however, our 35,000 step count begs to differ. All in all, it was a great day first day in Chicago. We managed see many interesting things and are planning to go to the aquarium tomorrow.
