As you can see, we have not been coping with the humidity well. We decided that we would go to watch a movie in a nice air-conditioned mall. BlacKkKlansman was the standout from the selection, so we picked up some tickets and decided to try some All-American Movie Theatre Fare™. We started off today with a low (I repeat low) of 28 degrees and head off into the city with real intentions to buy shoes. With a belly full of rockmelon, we hopped on the local blue line train into the city, headed into DSW (Designer Shoe Warehouse) and was met with success. Blister minimised, we wondered through the city picking up a doughnut or two for morning tea. Who are we if we don’t indulge in the American tradition of doughnuts. ...

Both Seth and I started off today with a well deserved sleep-in, providing us a chance to feel human once more. After a quick breakfast of rockmelon, which was incredibly juicy and tasting like honey, we chugged down some water knowing full well that it was going to reach 31 degrees. With some thought we picked up a transport pass for the next three days, hopped on the blue line train and went off into the city. ...

Today was a more relaxed affair than our previous expeditions into ‘the windy city’, as Jordan finally succumbed to jet lag. Instead, we opted to do some essential chores like clothes washing and shoe shopping; although not glamorous or exciting, still very important. We slept in until mid-morning before packing our washing and setting out to Pete’s Fresh Market, the grocery store with a good selection of fresh produce at pretty reasonable prices; This was a far cry to what Seth had experienced in Kansas City where fresh produce was difficult to find in the city and must have been squirrelled away into the far-flung peripheries of suburbia. ...

Starting today needing the biggest coffee in the world, still having jetlag sticking around. We headed back to Ferrara Bakery for our breakfast this morning. After we scoffed down an iced coffee (to beat the heat) and a lemon tart, we headed into the university shops area. Chicago University Shopping Street Along the same street. Part of Little Italy, there were plenty of pizza shops, pasta shops, and bakerys. We decided to catch the bus into town as our feet were still recovering from the day before (I wish I was kidding when I say that our blisters have blisters). ...

After 27 hours travelling, we have made it to Chicago! Flying into Chicago at night. Starting our day off with coffee as a cureall for jetlag, we popped down to an Italian bakery on a recommendation from our AirBnB Host. Surprisingly decent after all we had heard about coffee in America. Though I will admit, the small size here is the larger size in New Zealand. We popped past a supermarket called Pete’s Fresh Market, which was full of interesting things but mainly had an amazing selection of fruit. ...
